A ‘Burger-Orf’ @ Nyewood’s Henry Warren Hall - Friday 31/05/2024

For this event for Foodie Friday at the Bar Night in HWH, in the red (meat-eating) corner there were my dear friends Tania and Giles and in the plant-based green corner there was myself, LuLu and dearest friend and neighbour and (honest and always eager, taster of all my weird, wonderful and not so wonderful concoctions!) Sharron. Angela on front-of-house, saved the day by coordinating everything and everyone and no one would have been served on time without her brilliant scheduling and people skills. Sharron was invaluable too with her chips cooking, timings and serving talent and also her last minute coleslaw recipe twist was magical. Giles was skilful on burgers and Tania and I were on burger-building duties.

If there was ever a competition between the two corners then the red corner won hands down, as they had over 30 covers of their deliciousness pre-ordered. But LuLu had a treat up her sleeves for those brave enough to ditch the meat with her Indian spiced plant-based burger (secret recipe), homemade aubergine chutney and red onions pickled with star anise and beetroot to name but two of the flavourful ingredients.

A good night was had by all and thank you to our 45+ guests for your invaluable support. We couldn’t, wouldn’t, shouldn’t have done any of this without you! As usual, I hope the plant-based burgers left people wanting more as the general feedback from the night was…Tasting is Believing!
